Belle Isle Winter Photographs

Belle Isle Winter Photographs

February 28, 2021 was a great day for a winter photo exploration of Belle Isle. The day started with a little drizzle, but later cleared. The ground was partially frozen, but there was ample evidence of winter and some evidence of the coming spring.

The biggest surprise for me was the huge sheets of blue ice along the Detroit River. I see blue ice shots posted from the Straits of Mackinac and Lake Michigan, but I did not expect to see them on Belle Isle.

The Livingstone Lighthouse is always great to visit, and the passing ships along the frozen shore made for a great photo op. The Livingstone is the only Art Deco lighthouse in the country.
